We are a statewide, civil law firm providing legal services to the impoverished and senior population of Oklahoma. With twenty- four offices and a staff of 145+, we are committed to the mission of equal justice. The Comptroller will be located in the administrative office in Oklahoma City.

The successful individual will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the Organization.

Non-profit experience in accounting is required, as is experience, with governmental, corporate and private funding sources. MIP/Sage Finance Software experience is preferred. JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the Organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 Oversee the Organization’s short and long-term financial strategies.

 Oversee grant fiscal reporting.

 Provide strategic financial advice and input to the Executive Director on financial issues affecting the Organization.

 Establish and maintain an accounting system to ensure the accurate management of organizational funds.

 Manage and supervise accounting staff.

 Prepare monthly financial reports which give Management and Board of Directors information on the organization’s financial standing.

 Provide recommendations to Management and the Board of Directors regarding financial decisions, budget matters and grant proposals.

 Prepare monthly comparisons and interpretations of actual performance vs. operating plans and standards for Management, Grantors and Board of Directors.

 Oversee audit and tax preparations in conjunction with an external auditing firm.

 Provide leadership to the accounting staff in carrying out the major financial objectives and policies of the Organization.

 Responsible for insuring that the Organization complies with all financial and legal reporting required by law.

  Act as a member of the Organization’s executive management team and provide input on Organization policy decision-making.

 Attest to the Organization’s sound financial systems and controls. Take the appropriate steps to verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data.

 Provide coaching and guidance to the accounting staff.

 Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in accounting , financial and business management principles.

 Support the Organization’s overall mission, standards, confidentiality guidelines.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Perform other duties and projects as required by management.

Requirements: 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

 Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, or Accounting or a closely related field.

 Substantial professional experience in upper-level financial management.

 Experience in non-profit fund accounting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This work is sedentary and requires the following physical activities:

 Sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity or the ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation.

 Frequent lifting (up to 10 pounds of paper supplies or minor office equipment).

 Driving to office locations and other sites as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 Normal office environment.
