CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida is seeking a full time Chief Financial Officer for its fast-paced, non-profit, legal services law firm located in Daytona Beach, FL.  The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides fiscal support to the organization, oversees all accounting practices, and supervises the Accounting Department.  The CFO supports and collaborates with the Executive Director in his/her management of the business aspects of the organization by: (1) providing leadership in financial management operations; (2) providing information on the fiscal impact of a broad range of issues including strategy, organization, compliance, regulation, investments, analysis, and reporting; and (3) offering strategic insight on financial implications of proposed decisions.  Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida offers an excellent benefits package including:  free health, dental, disability and life insurance, generous paid time off program, and more. Equal Opportunity Employer    Essential Functions and Responsibility:   A. Strategic - Provide fiscal support to the Board, provide financial scenarios for strategic initiatives, assess financial and internal control risks of proposed initiatives and/or programs and propose recommendations. B. Financial Planning and Analysis - Prepare annual agency budget, prepare financial projections, interpret operating results, make recommendations for cost efficiencies, provide cost benefit analyses including capital asset acquisitions, space leases, etc., coordinate fiscal special projects and provide requisite analysis. C. Financial Reporting - Oversee the generation of timely and accurate financial and management reports, participate in Board meetings and present as necessary, ensure proper financial statement disclosures and supporting schedules, ensure proper classification of assets, liabilities, net assets, revenues and expenses. D. Cash Management and Investment - Monitor Net Asset carryovers and reserve balances, monitor cash balances and make recommendations to Executive Director, ensure Executive Director and the Board’s Audit and Audit Committee are aware of idle cash available for investment, Maintain analysis of investment portfolio performance and advise Executive Director and the Board’s Audit and Finance committee, perform research on investment options as directed by the Board’s Audit and Finance committee, maintain relationships with banks and other financial institutions. E. Policy and Procedure - Develop accounting policies to comply with GAAP, 2 CFR Part 215 and Part 230, LSC rules and regulations, trust account rules, tax, grant, and management reporting requirements, establish internal controls, maintain accounting manual with continuous review and enhancement of processes and controls. F. Accounting and Tax - Oversee all accounting functions, oversee payroll and time keeping database, ensure timely submission of employment taxes and payroll related forms and returns, oversee proper inventory accounting of fixed assets, ensure proper accounting of donations, research, implement, and maintain hardware and software for accounting and finance, maintain and update annual Cost Allocation Policies, provide training to attorneys on fiscal operation of Client Trust Accounts, oversee audit process and coordinate with audit firm, oversee preparation for tax returns including forms 990 by external CPA firm and approve final return, oversee preparation for 403b tax return form 5500 by pension advisor firm and approve final return, keep abreast of accounting, business, and financial issues by attending continuing education seminars. G. Grants Management - Ensure timely and accurate preparation and submission of grant documents such as proposals, budgets, monthly actual expenditures, interim reports, budget modifications, final reports, and self audits. Work closely with Director of Grants and Compliance on grant proposals and reports, participate in fiscal monitoring visits by funders, ensure proper accounting for grant receivables. H. Accounting Personnel Management - Develop specific duty assignments of all Accounting Department personnel, recruit and interview accounting personnel and make hiring recommendations, develop and train Accounting Department personnel, review work performed by Accounting Department personnel, supervise and evaluate Accounting Department personnel, maintain overall responsibility and accountability for Accounting Department operations. I. Insurance/Contracts/Benefits - Solicit bids and review major vendor proposals and contracts, oversee renewal of insurance policies including general liability, property, umbrella, wind, flood workers and unemployment compensation, malpractice, fiduciary, and ERISA. J. Human Resources - Oversee the training and travel arrangements for staff, and other related duties.    
Requirements: 
Qualifications:   A. CPA license or MBA degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance B. Minimum six to ten years work experience with demonstrable leadership and strategic advisory skills C. Excellent organizational and analytical skills, along with process/project management abilities and an acute attention to detail D. Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with an ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders E. Proficient computer skills, specifically in Microsoft applications, accounting software, and databases F. Working knowledge of nonprofit accounting G. Basic knowledge of law office technology H. Basic knowledge of building operations and administration I. Strong work ethic and ability to multi task J. Strong business acumen, competency in business operations, and an ability to speak in non financial terms K. Strong supervision and team leadership skills
