Attorney- Housing and Communities Workgroup
Under the supervison of the Managing Attorney, the staff attorney will:
• Interview and counsel clients;
• Analyze facts and law and plan case strategy;
• Draft pleadings, legal documents, trial memoranda, appellate briefs and community education materials;
• Negotiate case settlements, when appropriate;
• Participate in community education activities;
• Make court appearances on law and motion and discovery matters;
• Try cases in Superior, Federal and Bankruptcy Court and pursue appeals in appropriate cases.
• Active membership in the California State Bar;
• Litigation experience in Superior, Federal and Bankruptcy Courts;
• Demonstrated knowledge of applicable law and community legal needs;
• Excellent written and verbal communication;
• Experience with diverse client population;
• Experience handling a variety of legal matters, including predatory lending, foreclosure and foreclosure-related fraud, elder financial abuse cases, habitability, and housing creation/preservation;
• Bilingual preferred.
